So, you want to do a destination elopement and are possibly wondering, “how do we book a photographer to capture our moment?” or you may be wondering if you should even have a photographer since you are just running into the adventure of it all and you want it to be intimate.
Here is the thing… having a photographer capture your epic romance won’t be disruptive, rather helping create memories for decades to come (did I mention that we know where all the most amazing views and spots are for those romance novel worthy photos are?).
Things to be aware of when hiring a photographer for your destination elopement or micro wedding:
Hiring someone who you trust is key. The photographer can be a local to your vacation area, but make sure they tick all the boxes when it comes to their style, energy and vision. They may know hidden gem locations and have no need to take a few extra steps when it comes to the country’s regulations or location permits.
Transportation – how are you and your photographer getting around? Are they meeting you at the location or are you traveling together?
Permits, insurance, travel fees and other things to cover – during the consultation conversations, make sure to hash out details on what is needed to making sure where you will be photographing is totally legal. Don’t be scared- a seasoned pro will have all the things figured out and ready to travel.
Travel arrangements – when hiring a potential destination photographer, consider having them come early (2 days early) to avoid travel conflicts or cancelation issues. Having travel insurance is also smart.
Photography coverage – how long is enough? I am a total fan of couple’s eloping and wanting to explore the creative side of cinematic story telling. Some couples just want a few hours of coverage and some want a few days worth.
Remember – your outfits, the location and posing create the story of your photos. Let us help you make an epic memory by getting to know each other ahead of time when it comes to the consultation process. In a way, you’re choosing to travel with this person on an incredibly personal adventure. You want to make sure you like this person (your creative team).
