Hey there, wild hearts! As an adventure elopement photographer, I’ve seen it all – from mountaintop “I dos” to seaside vows. Planning to tie the knot in the great outdoors, especially if you’re the edgy, nature-loving type (maybe with a furry friend in tow), is thrilling but demands a bit more than your typical wedding checklist. So, let’s dive into some unexpected yet essential items you should pack for your adventure elopement. Trust me, these are game-changers!

  1.  Durable Walkie-Talkies

In remote locations, cell service is as reliable as a chocolate teapot. Walkie-talkies are your best friend for staying in touch with each other and your elopement team. Plus, it adds a bit of spy-movie excitement to your day!

  2.  Portable Lighting

Golden hour is a photographer’s dream, but let’s be real, Mother Nature doesn’t always get the memo. Portable, waterproof lighting (like LED lanterns or headlamps) can turn a gloomy evening into a magical photo op. As a photographer that focuses on sunrise to moments in the dark, I come with my own lighting to help keep things simple for my clients.

Bringing sparklers, flashlights and glow sticks is also really fun too (just know the local fire laws).

  3.  A Trusty Multi-Tool

From snipping rogue threads to tightening a loose screw in your tripod, a multi-tool is the MacGyver gadget you didn’t know you needed. It’s like having a mini superhero in your pocket. I pack a small tool kit in my truck just in case for all shoots- including zip ties and duct tape.

  4.  Doggy Adventure Kit

Bringing your pup? Pack a doggy adventure kit – think portable water bowl, paw protectors, and maybe a cute bow tie or flower collar for those Insta-worthy shots!

  5.  Compact Picnic Gear

Celebrate your post-vow bliss with a picnic! A lightweight blanket, compact foldable chairs, and a small cooler for some bubbly can turn any spot into a romantic setting.

  6.  Weather-Ready Wardrobe

Those flowy dresses and sharp suits look epic, but don’t forget practical layers. A stylish, warm jacket or a sleek, waterproof poncho can save the day. When walking, hiking or dancing the day away, consider footwear that is practical, but with a twist. From personal experience, I eloped in doc martins (it was pouring out and I wasn’t going to hike in heels).

  7.  Emergency Beauty Kit

Wind, rain, and hiking can do a number on your look. Pack a small bag with touch-up essentials – think waterproof mascara, hairpins, and a pocket mirror. Umbrellas are great, but they can add bulk to the pack. Having items in the car is always helpful too.

  8.  Environmentally Friendly Confetti

Want those magical confetti shot without harming Mother Nature? Opt for biodegradable or natural alternatives like dried flower petals or leaves. I am a total fan of the champagne pop – or you can also get dried flowers to toss too.

  9.  First-Aid Kit

A mini first-aid kit is crucial – for everything from blisters from those new boots to minor scrapes. Safety first, fun always! Having sunscreen and bug spray on hand is also a solid idea.

  10.  Custom Vow Books

Amidst the adventure, don’t forget what brought you here. Custom vow books are not only a beautiful keepsake but also a personal touch in your photos.

Wrapping It Up

Your adventure elopement is all about celebrating your unique love story in a way that feels right for you. These unexpected items not only ensure a smoother day but also add an extra layer of personalization to your adventure. Happy planning, and here’s to a day as unforgettable as your love story!

Remember, at the heart of it all is your love and commitment. Everything else is just the cherry on top of an already perfect day. Stay true to yourselves, and your adventure elopement will be nothing short of extraordinary. Cheers to your next great adventure – together!
